Explain two SIMILAR religious beliefs in contemporary British society about prejudice.

Christian

  • Many Christians oppose all forms of prejudice.

  • They argue that Jesus taught them to love all their neighbours without distinction, and that being prejudiced goes against this teaching.

Islamic

  • Many Muslims oppose all forms of prejudice.

  • Allah (swt) is infinitely just, and Muslims are expected to manifest this quality to the best of their ability, which means not being prejudiced towards anyone.

Buddhist

  • Many Buddhists oppose all forms of prejudice.

  • One of the goals of Buddhism is to break free of illusion (māyā) and see the world as it really is; this includes not being prejudiced towards people.
