In the Meno, Plato explains that we are all born with ability.1 The role of the teacher is to ‘draw out’ (educere) a person’s hidden ability.
At Eductor we believe that too many students’ abilities remain locked away due to ‘barriers to learning’. These may be cognitive, emotional, or physical. But all too often, they are mistaken for inability.
We work with students to discover their hidden barriers to learning, and equip them with the tools to dismantle these, and access what was there all along.
Who we are
Eductor was founded by Stephen Donoho.
After doing a PhD in Religious Studies at the University of Edinburgh, Stephen found his true calling working with SEN pupils as a TA in a North London Secondary School.
Promotions followed, and he soon found himself a Head of Religious Studies. Under his leadership, the department thrived, consistently achieving the highest Progress 8 score in the school.
However, Stephen missed the challenge and satisfaction of working in SEN. And so he stepped away from schools to study Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis, which he continues to do today.
He founded Eductor as a way to draw together his experience in SEN, Religious Studies, and psychotherapy for the benefit of students whose potential in Religious Studies and Philosophy remains unrealised.

Why AQA? And why these religions?
I taught these exams with great success for many years, and have marked all of them for AQA. I am confident that we can raise any student’s attainment in AQA exams in a very short time. However, we are happy to consider other exam boards and other religions on a case by case basis.

After purchasing your package, you book tutoring sessions through our ‘Bookings’ page.
The pre-paid package model give you maximum flexibility for scheduling your sessions. You can book all your sessions for the same time and day every week, but you can also easily skip weeks that you will be away. The packages do not expire, so you can even hold a few sessions in reserve, and schedule multiple sessions in the run-up to important tests and mock exams.
